One of my favorite trails in Acadia - not crowded, moderate difficulty, and amazing views.
The views from the top are even better than those from Cadillac Mountain, and not even a fraction of the crowds.
We did the short Beech Cliff trail (.5 mile) from Echo lake and took the longer 1 mile hike down and it was awesome. The metal ladders were fun to climb on the short cliff trail. The views are great, you can see some islands and southwest harbor.
