My eldest child loves the heated pool. Complimentary breakfast is tasty. The staff have been wonderful. The restaurant serves tasty meals and a complementary breakfast. Thank goodness for hot tea every morning, as the location can be chilly. The gardens are lovely. The trees surrounding the Inn are beautiful. Views of the boats in the harbor from the dining room are fun. Rooms in cottages are chilly, musty and dank smelling with peeling paint. Old furnishings. Kitchenette is tiny. Bathrooms are tiny with old, leaking fixtures. Fireplaces are not functional. Parking is fairly convenient. I wouldn't stay again, but if you enjoy historic buildings, you might really enjoy it!
No AC so we had to open the windows due to the outside heat. We had to share a balcony with the room next door but kept our drapes pulled for privacy so we didn’t get to enjoy the little bit of view from inside the room. When we went to take a shower, the nozzle only sprayed a strong mist and I almost fell getting out of the claw foot tub due to the slanted ceiling and shower curtain.
They have an elevator and are very accommodating for people with special needs. Outdoor heaters on the patio had us with a water view.
We decided we couldn’t take another night so we checked out a day early and when I shared the reason why during check out, the front desk person looked at me with a smile and said you are all checked out and thanks like this is not the first time they have heard these concerns. For what we had to pay for the room, I was dumbfounded. No I’m sorry, or let me get you another room (they weren’t full), let me see what I can do to make your stay better, just a plain your done, goodbye. Maybe the Inn is better, I don’t know, but we would choose to stay somewhere else if we had know the potential issues with the external cottage rooms.
We stayed here in the fall foliage season. We were in the Blue Spruce cottage instead of the main Inn. After walking down a dark dirt path to the cottage, we entered the room and it was nice until we sat on the hard no cushion bed. We woke up the next morning regretting not calling for a egg crate or something to cushion the bed. They did put on a slight mattress pad after our request but it was still a really hard mattress.
Lovely pop overs and seafood chowder!
It's basically a well-located, quaint Motel 6 that thinks it's a Four Seasons.
Great lobster stew and popovers. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful, the food was better than the Jordan Pond House is now, the view is just as nice, and the prices are even better. Definitely worth a trip there, even if just for afternoon tea and popovers.
This inn dates back to the 1950's and has never been updated apparently. Conveniently, you can sit on the toilet and brush your teeth over the sink.
